Is hormone therapy safe?

Hormone therapy is generally safe for many people when it is properly prescribed and monitored. At Optimal Hormone Health, we take an individualized, evidence-based approach using comprehensive lab testing and ongoing follow-up to support both safety and effectiveness. Your risks and benefits depend on your health history, which is why personalized care is essential.

What are Bio-Identical Hormones?

Bio-identical hormones are hormones that are identical in chemical structure to those made in the body. Your body already knows how to use it and doesn't have to do any extra work to convert them into a useable structure.

What symptoms does hormone therapy help with?

Hormone therapy may help improve symptoms such as fatigue, brain fog, weight changes, poor sleep, mood changes, low libido, hot flashes, and changes in sexual function. Because hormone imbalance affects everyone differently, treatment is tailored to your unique symptoms and health goals.

Do you accept insurance?

We do not bill insurance. This self-pay model helps us provide the highest level of personalized care.

What labs do you draw?

Before your consultation, we'll draw our full lab  panel to make sure we have the results to review with you during your visit.

Our initial panel is comprehensive and thorough, we check more than just sex hormones! We also check vitamins & minerals, diabetes markers, inflammatory markers, thyroid levels, and more.

How long does it take hormone therapy to work?

Some people notice improvements within a few weeks, but most experience more meaningful changes over several months. Results develop gradually as hormone levels stabilize, and ongoing monitoring helps ensure treatment stays safe and effective.

What types of hormone replacement do you offer?

We believe there's no one-size-fits-all approach to hormones. That's why we offer many types of hormone replacement methods. We offer injections, creams, oral medications, troches, and pellets. Each method has its own pros/cons, and we'll make recommendations on which may be right for you.

At OHH, we believe in shared decision making with our patients, so you'll be able to be a part of the recommendation process. Your voice matters, and we'll make sure you're comfortable before starting therapy.

How do you know what hormones I need?

We make our recommendations for hormone therapy based on a variety of factors. Symptoms, lab values, medical history, and your goals with treatment are the most important things we'll look at. As for which delivery method, we'll work with you to recommend the best for you. We'll look at things like cost, compliance, personal history and more.
